Lessons Learned

As you may or may not know, I am always up for learning new things. Well, over the weekend, I learned a few things:

• I should not cut grass! For starters, I thought that cutting grass would be like vacuuming the carpets, only outside! Not so much. It was about 100° outside and our yard is WAY bigger than I give it credit for! Not sure that it would have been so bad except that I had to keep dumping that stupid bag that conveniently catches all the grass I have just destroyed! Whose idea was that?! Why can't the grass just fly out the back of the mower?! Then the kids could come out and either rake it or blow it into the streets like so many of our neighbors do!
• Next lesson, although still related to previous lesson learned: I should not run over an ant bed with the lawnmower! Apparently that gives the ants wings so they can then not only bite your ankles, but can also fly up and bite your hand, thigh & other misc. parts that should not be subjected to ant bites! I am still itchy from that lesson!

Needless to say, these aren't the types of things that I set out to learn but I learned more about myself nonetheless! I am quite certain my hubby appreciated the fact that he didn't have to cut the grass though.....although he was a little perturbed that I emptied the bags of grass into the areas of the woods that he had spent weeks killing the weeds there! Who knew that compost would act as a fertilizer & reseed that area?! I guess that's just another lesson learned......
